The York Times: There are 12 secret CIA bases in Ukraine

Ukrainian intelligence officers, together with the CIA, have built a network of secret points that help monitor the actions of the Russian military, listen to their conversations and collect other important information. This is stated in the material of The York Times published on Sunday, February 25, entitled "Spy War: How the CIA is Secretly Helping Ukraine Fight Vladimir Putin."
The publication claims that the CIA and other U.S. intelligence agencies provide Ukraine with intelligence to target missile strikes, track Russian troop movements, and help support spy networks in Russia and other countries.
It is noted that cooperation began ten years ago and actively continued under three different US presidents.
Then the so-called fifth command provided intercepted telephone conversations and other intelligence data within hours of the disaster.
The CIA was impressed and made its first major commitment, providing secure communications equipment and special training for the agency and two other elite units.
The cooperation has turned Ukraine, whose intelligence services were long considered compromised by Russia, into one of Washington's most important intelligence partners in the fight against the Kremlin.
According to the publication, 12 underground points were created along the Russian border over the past eight years, which are engaged in collecting information.
Analyzing the development of the partnership between the special services, the publication notes that the Ukrainians demonstrated their capabilities by collecting intercepted data that helped prove Russia's involvement in the downing of a Malaysian Airlines plane in 2014.
However, recently, due to the delay in the approval of the US aid package, Ukrainian intelligence officers have been asking their American colleagues whether the US will abandon them.
Speaking about Burns' visit to Kyiv last week, a CIA official said: "We have demonstrated a clear commitment to Ukraine for many years, and this visit is another strong signal that the US commitment will continue."
